Our flight back from Wrangell to Seattle had an 8-hour lay-over in Juneau and we were excited about the extra time in Alaska. We took a city bus from the airport down to the harbor. Although we feel it gave us a true perspective of city life, we would have been better off renting a car at the airport for the day since the bus ride took an entire hour of our limited time. We hated to leave Gustavus but we were scheduled on an afternoon flight to Wrangell which we had chartered thru Sunrise Aviation. Our pilot, Steve, arrived just in time to pick us up and we boarded immediately.
After our time in inner Alaska, we took a plane to Gustavus which is located at the entrance to Glacier Bay National Park.
We spent the best part of the day at ABC Motorhomes trying to get our RV exchanged. The furnace wasn’t igniting properly and in fact the propane was leaking, so they exchanged the unit for a similar one. It was also 21 feet but didn’t have a pop-out (meaning the dining area didn’t extend) so it felt smaller and we were all a bit disappointed but it was good enough for what we needed. Continue reading
